Hey there! Welcome to Stillwater Coffee Roasters! Thank you so much for visiting our page and checking out our blog! I hope this post is informational and inspiring as I share a glimpse into our life as a husband and wife pursuing a dream and a calling from the Lord!

I would first like to share a little bit about who we are, and how we have reached this point in our lives. My wife (Mandy) and I (Micah) have been happily married for two years this past April! We met and were married in Illinois and recently relocated to Florida. My wife is a potter, artist, and a very intelligent woman.

I have been in the coffee industry for

6 years or so and am very passionate about coffee! As I learned about specialty coffee, I became fascinated by the incredible craftsmanship behind every cup. Farmers dedicate years to cultivating healthy coffee trees. Producers carefully process each harvest. Roasters spend countless hours developing profiles that highlight the unique character of every origin. Every cup represents the work of hundreds of people across the world.

Over the years of being in the coffee industry, I have left the industry a few times to chase after less important things, and every time God has pulled me back to where I am supposed to be! Praise him that we have such a patient and loving Father! Before we relocated to Florida, I owned a small coffee roasting business in Illinois. After relocating, I briefly questioned whether coffee would continue to be a part of my future. Instead, every opportunity seemed to point me back toward it.

Through prayer, experience, and the encouragement of others, I became convinced that God was calling me to remain in this industry. Coffee is not the destination; it is the tool God has placed in my hands to serve others.

Stillwater was founded on the belief that every business has a greater purpose than simply generating profit. Although we are passionate about specialty coffee, our deepest calling is to glorify God though the way we serve others. We believe coffee is one of God’s gifts that naturally brings people together. Throughout history, people have gathered around a table with coffee in hand to share stories, encourage each other, celebrate life’s victories, and carry one another through difficult seasons.

We are doing our best to follow that calling from the Lord. The name Stillwater comes from Psalm 23, where David writes that the Lord “Leads me beside still waters” Those words paint a picture of peace, rest, and restoration. All these qualities have become increasingly rare in today’s culture. In this life, everything is so fast paced, everyone is chasing after the next dollar, the next promotion, the next job, the next dream, and so on… you can fill in the blank. Most of us are not slowing down enough to be present, spend time in silence, being thankful, and sipping our coffee intentionally. Although we are passionate about specialty coffee, our deepest calling is to glorify God though the way we serve others.

I am one of those people who struggles with chasing after the next thing and not spending time to be present with the Lord and others! I feel God is calling me to slow down, be present, and appreciate what he has blessed us with! This life is too short to miss all the blessings we have been given and miss the things that are most important.

The reason I am starting this blog and my podcast is because for one, God is calling me to share my knowledge about coffee, roasting, and to spread his wonderful word!

I feel there is a gap between the coffee Farmers and the coffee drinkers, and most people in today’s culture don’t know where coffee comes from, and the work that goes into creating that cup of coffee that they are sipping on! Which leads me into our entire theme… slowing down to enjoy the cup of coffee we spent time making and slowing down to learn more about the coffee we are drinking and appreciate all the work that went into that one cup. All of this starts with sharing my knowledge so others can learn, and we all can grow together. I also have a desire to create a community of friends/family where we can spend time together, share our experiences with each other, and all slow down and be present with one another.

When I feel the most in my element, and the most inspired is when I get to share my love for Jesus and Coffee with someone else. I thrive from sharing my coffee knowledge with others, and I get so excited when I can help someone enjoy their cup of coffee a little more and get the most out of their cup by explaining a few small brewing techniques.

Our long-term goal is to establish Stillwater Coffee Lounge, a Christ centered gathering place where people are welcomed with warmth, treated with dignity, and encouraged in their faith. We hope to create a place where churches hold Bible studies, families gather around a table, business owners encourage one another, and anyone searching for hope finds people willing to listen. Coffee is what brings people together, but Christ is the foundation upon which we hope to build everything else.

Thank you again for taking the time to hear our story, and to share in our passion and dream for Stillwater Coffee Roasters. Our prayer is not simply to build a successful coffee business, but to build a community where we can provide exceptional coffee with intentional hospitality and a Christ centered culture. We hope to create something that is both uncommon and deeply meaningful.
